You don't believe that God created the world?  Then consider this

God was the creator of the world and everything in it.

You have already been introduced to the Bible as the written Word of God. We need to know that every word in the Bible was given to man by God to write down as His record of what He wanted mankind to know about Him and how they can enter into eternal life before Christ returns to earth to take believers to heaven to be with Him forever. So, even when we do not understand every word of scripture or what God says seems strange to us, we never-the-less must remember that God spoke every word into the minds of the 40 authors who wrote the 66 books which we know as the Bible.

However, this modern world has done all it can to remove simple belief in the word of God. The world’s media bombards us with all manner of information which are man’s wisdom and ideas rather than God’s. Creation is one of those areas of the Bible which can be difficult to accept. It is also one where the world's ideas are seductive and can influence us away from truth. So we not only need to know that God wrote the Bible, but that His record of creation is true.

Before we go into a fuller study of this, here are some seemingly tiny pieces of information that you may not know about. They concern the creation of the earth and the stars.

1. God’s knowledge of the stars

When God was speaking to Job about His power, He said to Job: (Job 38:31) "Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion? What is special about this verse? God named the stars and knows them by name. Notice that He said that Pleiades was bound. This means that the group of stars known as the Pleiades group were bound together in formation and that formation never changes. Scientists call it a bound cluster. Orion however, was formed as a loose cluster. So God was saying to Job -

“Do you have the power to bind the Pleiades group or to loose the Orion group"? Scientists have discovered in the last 40 years that the Pleiades group of stars are held together by an unknown force so that they will never separate. Also that as time passes, the Orion group will gradually separate as they move through space. Eventually they will not be a group at all. How did Job know that? Remember that Job wrote these words because God instructed him to do so. Did he understand what he wrote? Probably not! But God knew it all because He created them. There is no doubt that God wrote the Bible! No one else would have the knowledge to do so!

2. God’s knowledge of the planet earth.

2.1. The earth is suspended on nothing! Job 26:7

(Job 26:7) He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. How did Job know to write that?

God told him of course. How did God know? He created the earth and everything that is in it. Other religions have other views on this issue.

* The Hindu religion believes that the earth sits on the back of an elephant.

* The Shinto religion believes that the earth sits on top of a fish.

* The Greek philosophers believed that the mythological figure Atlas held up the world.

God says that He hangs the earth on nothing! Views from space confirm that to be true. So if we cannot trust the books of other religions on these things, we cannot trust them on spiritual things. However, because we can trust God with these things, we can also trust Him with spiritual things. Remember, the Bible is God’s word written by His servants.

2.2 The earth is a circle (sphere) Isaiah 40:22

(Isaiah 40:21-22 NIV) Do you not know? .....Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, ...... He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. It now seems strange to us that at one time people thought the earth was flat and that if you kept going to the horizon you would drop over the edge. Copernicus in 1512 informed us that the earth was round, and Columbus in 1492 proved the same point by sailing across the Atlantic ocean. This was only 500 years ago. Isaiah wrote these verses 7 centuries before Christ, nearly 2700 years ago. How did Isaiah know what to write? God told him. How did God know the earth was round before Copernicus told us. He created the earth and everything in it!

So these are just examples of God knowing about these things because He was involved in creation. Another area that is misunderstood is the theory of evolution. Here is a basic comparison of creation with evolution. There is more on creation later.
